getaddressbalances of non wallet addresses

Is there a reason why rather than failing and giving an error when trying to do getaddressbalances for an address that's not in my wallet, it just returns an empty array?

This behavior was kept to match the way that Bitcoin Core APIs like getreceivedbyaddress work, but we will revisit it as part of the new wallet now in development.
